In Conversation with Alex Eagle
This September we're excited to partner with 3 inspirational women who have designed bespoke linens as part of their own curated table edits.
Three Ladies, three exclusive designs and three fabulous tables.
Second up is my darling friend, designer, Alex Eagle who has created a simple, chic & refined Tablescape featuring an exclusively designed tablecloth, placemats & napkins. Alex's beautifully designed table cloth and linens in royal blue and crisp white are at the heart of this classic new table. Taking inspiration from the interiors at her hotel Oakley Court, these linens were created to enjoy all year round.
Q&A With Alex Eagle
Alex, thank you so much for having us. When Did you & Alice Meet?
Alex: "I first met Alice decades ago on a dance floor in a nightclub on the Kings Road when she was a teen & I was in my early twenties. We started chatting & haven't stopped chatting since."
What is your favourite memory with Alice?
Alex: "Obviously we have all of our old memories but seeing the next generation get on is the nicest thing to share with her. Sitting with her & watching our children play together is one of the nicest feelings."
What's your favourite thing about Alice?
Alex: "She is totally there for me & always has time to chat. She's a really good phone chatter. So whilst she lives in the countryside & isn't always in London, she's amazing on the phone & always has funny snips of info. She's also an amazing hostess. Me & my family are always walking on air after a weekend at Stibbington with her & Tom."
You designed these table Linens. What inspired you to choose the colours & shape?
Alex: "I am quite paired back & refined; less is more. I love blue & I love white, simple yet classic. I like the clean lines of the napkins combining with the scalloped edge of the placemats make the Tablescape very gentle. It works together, because all three linens share the same colour. It feels like you could have it all year round. I hope you all love it as much as I do."
If you had to choose 3 favourites from your Tablescape Edit, what would they be?
Alex: "The Alex Eagle for Mrs. Alice Linens of course! The tablecloth, the placemats & the napkins. Blue & White is the perfect background to something rustic & cool to something super smart & slick. You could even put it out on the lawn & have a picnic." We've a few quick fire questions for you. A bit of fun and the important ones that I know our readers are all dying to know the answers to...
Peanut Butter or Marmite? Peanut Butter.
Heels, Flats or Trainers? Trainers.
Biggest Pet Peeve? So many Pet Peeves I can't choose, pass.
What can't you travel without? I love my slippers. Or some lovely cotton shirts that we make as they work from day to night.
Top tip for table laying? If you love it it will work. Don't worry about matching or mismatching or being on trend, if it comes from the heart it will work nicely.
Favourite Book? I love Nancy Mitford, so 'Love in a Cold Climate' would be a favourite. It's a classic.
What are you wearing today? Today I am wearing a Alex Eagle Suit in a lovely cashmere fabric; silk lined & made beautifully. I have paired it with a ribbed tank that we also sell.
Lastly, finish this sentence: The way to my heart is... Choccy. Anything super dark, delicious & expensive.
